The Mosque was orginally the Elite Cinema, which was opened on 1 August 1913 by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Alderman Fred Foster. In 1968 it became the Star Bingo Club and then sold the front part of the building to Jamiyat Tabligh-Ul-Islam in 1986. A fire in 1987 meant the bingo area was destroyed and it was demolished in August 1988. In the late 1990's the auditorium area was added to the Mosque and some offices were also created, although the original cinema front has been retained intact.
