Markazi Jamia Mosque was the first purpose-built Mosque in Keighley, opened in 1973 to serve a mostly Pakistani Muslim community but open to all. The present Mosque was begun in 1999, built by Peter Rock.
The upper prayer room was opened in 2007, with geometric patterns and calligraphy of texts of the Holy Quran inside the dome. The lower prayer room was opened in 2009, with the 99 names of Allah in Arabic on each side of the mihrab (prayer niche). It can now hold 3000 worshippers.
