QUEENSBURY BAPTIST CHURCH

Contact: Revd. Allen Holmes 01535 648730
Queensbury Baptist Church was established in 1773. A second Chapel was erected on the site in 1820 and is the building still used today opening its doors during the first year of the reign of King George IV.
Its first Pastor was John Taylor, the younger brother of Daniel Taylor the founder of the General Baptists New Connexion Churches in Yorkshire. John's ministry totalled 45 years until his death in December 1818.
Queensbury Baptist Church was the first Church to be established in the area known in those days at Queenshead, until the name of the village was changed to Queensbury during the 1860's. Many original architectural features and fixtures remain.
For many years the Church premises were the focal point of the community in terms of social and educational activities.
