In Church Grounds

All Saints Church was commissioned by Canon Ernest Winter, Rector of Elland, as an Anglican-Catholic church, and designed by his friend GH Fellows-Prynne.  It was dedicated on 4 November 1903, and finally consecrated (debt-free) on 30 April 1912.  The building of an extension at the West end, a Sunday School, and arched cloister garden were added in the period 1914-17, held up by the Great War.

The church is dominated by the copper-covered Fleche (a spire placed on the ridge of a church) and its overlooking figure of the archangel Gabriel, which along with the sanctuary altar and lectern was renovated for the centenary in 2003.  The site is Grade 2* listed, and outside there is also a cloister garden of remembrance.

Also completed in 2003 was the magnificent statuary, refurbished for the centenary, with 8 statues around the Chancel Arch, all overlooked by a large Rood and a statue of Mary, standing.
