In 1874, the churches response to an increasing and industrialised population in Rastrick was to build St John the Divine, a mission church, which was then replaced in 1890 by the building that is now the church hall. The present church was designed by Nicholson and Corlette and built between 1913 and 1915.  Worship was then transferred there from the hall.

The light and airy interior has a stone model of the church and an Aumbry (a recess or cabinet in the sacristy wall of a church) both by Rydal Foster, and a pulpit, Bishop’s chair and choir stalls by Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson of Kilburn.

There is also a 1960s window on etched glass by Piper of St Peter in the south aisle,  a stained glass nativity scene in the Lady Chapel,  and two stained glass windows by Sep Waugh: a crucifixion scene in the East window and ‘I saw a new heaven and a new earth’ in the West window.
