Treasures Revealed in Kirklees - Saturday 29th May - Sunday 6th June 2010
From May 29 - June 6, places of worship across Kirklees will be opening their doors and welcoming visitors, offering a fascinating insight into the many rich and diverse faith communities in the area.
There are 48 places of worship taking part in this year’s Treasures Revealed in Kirklees festival, organised by Kirklees Faiths Forum, with five of the world’s major faiths represented by churches, mosques, a Sikh Gurdwara, Buddhist Centre and a Hindu Temple.
Most venues will have volunteers available to offer guided tours or provide answers to questions, and many will have exhibitions, leaflets and other information to add to visitors’ experiences. There will also be opportunities to observe worship taking place and to meet members of different local faith communities.
The festival week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the faith communities in Kirklees, to enhance understanding and to appreciate the diversity which makes the area such a great place to live or to visit.
