Open air preaching commenced in Berry Brow under the shadow of a large rock, and in 1824 Rock Chapel was opened next to it.  By the 1880's a new chapel was built on Birch Road and opened in 1893. In the 1960's, with high maintenance and heating costs, the Chapel was demolished and the schoolroom converted to a Chapel  and a "Community Room''  built on.  This new Church opened in 1971. Recently the premises have had a "makeover".  The building incorporates a window made in memory of "Little Abe - The Bishop of Berry Brow", a famous 19th century local preacher.
