ALL SAINTS CHURCH, CLAYTON WEST

Church Lane, Clayton, Huddersfield, HD8 9TS

Reverend Joy Cousans 01484 862321

All Saints' Church opened in 1875 to serve the local community and is part of the ancient parish of High Hoyland. It contains stained glass windows by Charles Kempe, a beautiful screen behind the altar celebrating Celtic Saints and the Wintour Memorial commemorating the Battle of Jutland.
The pulpit is made of Caen stone supported by alabaster pillars and was given in memory of Revd. F.T.Wintour, Rector of the parish from 1867 to 1898.
There is also a board with the names of the Rectors of High Hoyland dating back to the 12th Century.
For some of the time there are 2 Rectors shown on the board, as the church was left to the founder's 2 daughters and each had the right to present a Rector. All the carvings in the church were made by local craftsmen.
