ST. PATRICK'S R.C CHURCH

New North Road, Huddersfield, HD1 5JY

Saint Patrick's Church is one of three churches in the Parish of the Holy Redeemer, which covers north Huddersfield. It has a vibrant and lively congregation of around 1,000.

St Patrick's goes back to 1828, when Father John Maddocks was sent to re-establish the Catholic faith in Huddersfield to the immigrant Irish workforce. Maddock's successor, Father Thomas Kelly, swiftly raised the funds to cover the £2000 building costs and the church was opened on 26th September 1832.

In the late 1880's the next door property was acquired, and was extended in the early 20th century. It is currently home to the priests of the parish. The building next to the presbytery is the local convent of the Daughters of Divine Love.
