ST. THOMAS' CHURCH

Marsh Hall Lane, Thurstonland, HD4

Built on the site of a Chapel of Ease, St Thomas' was consecrated in 1870. A small, regular congregation support it. The East Window depicts the Good Samaritan and a painting in the chancel is of St Thomas with Jesus (signed C.V.S Orsini 1966). A brass eagle lectern holds a Bible originally used in the Chapel at Storthes Hall Hospital in the parish and the pipe organ is a rare, Kirkland/Jardine instrument. A church room was created in 1986, with a kitchen and toilet added later. The church's high ceiling was recently repaired and the whole church redecorated. History of the Church is available.
